Admission Procedure of JBIMS

Admission to the flagship course MMS is through a Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) every year.

Admission process is a 3 tier process and generally starts off in January. 3 tiers of the selection process are:

  • Shortlisting based on Common Admission Test (CAT, CMAT or any other entrance exam accepted by DTE)
  • Group Discussion
  • Personal Interview

However, for final selection even score of 10th, 12th and work experience is taken into account though the weightage given is quite low as compared to few IIMs.

JBIMS accepts CMAT score of September of the preceding year or February of the same year, or best of the two. For example: Admission for 2014-16 Batch will take into account CMAT September 2013 score as well as CMAT February 2014 score.

Here goes the break up assuming you apply through CMAT in JBIMS:

Weightage given to different parameters

From above distribution, we may see that if one has scored high in CMAT, then even if 10th, 12th, work experience and performance in GDPI is not at par, one still has very strong chance of converting JBIMS call.

Institute also considers nationality, domicile etc. as parameters while rolling out shortlists for GDPI as well as during final selections.

Breakup of seats depending on domicile in JBIMS is as follows:

    • Kanika,

Since by the time application forms are out, you should apply with the best of the two scores. :)

Secondly, score in the range of 310-320 should be good enough !

      Cheers and All the best.

    • Vivek,

There is no state wise intake except for Maharashtra. Everyone from non-Maharashtra states has equal chances and equal probability of getting through depending on score and next round performance.

      Cheers!

  25. hi
can u confirm me does JBIMS take students through GMAT ??

  26. hii
as i am pursuing btech final year nd up to now i got 76% in my acedmics …… if i got a gud score in cmat can i expect a call frm jbims collgg???

    • JBIMS does not give calls to anyone. Everyone attempting CMAT has to give GD PI. Your marks from GDPI are added to your CMAT Score. The students are then ranked in descending order. Top XX students are then selected for XX seats (Where XX is the no. of seats in the particular Quota)

Due to the nearly insignificant weightage given to 10th and 12th scores, they won’t matter much.

      Best of Luck,
      CareerAnna Team

    • However, as mentioned in the article – If you get really good score at CMAT, you will get the call from JBIMS irrespective of academics being around 75.

      Cheers and All the best.
