B-School Cutoff 2019: B-Schools adopt different methodologies to select candidates. Different institutes assign different weightage to test score, academic record, GD/ PI score, and profile of the candidate and work experience (if any). However, for most B-schools, the first criteria for shortlisting suitable candidates is the score obtained in entrance tests like CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, SNAP Test, IIFT Test, etc. Every year, elite B-schools in the country shortlist candidates 10-15 times the number of seats in the Institute for the second round. Some institutes consider the total scores, while others also take into account sectional scores, in deciding the cutoff for the GD/PI round.
Usually, the CAT cutoff for old IIMs and top B-schools such as FMS (University of Delhi), MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, etc. goes over 99 percentile. New IIMs including IIM Sambalpur, IIM Ranchi, etc. and other top B-schools have cutoff 90 percentile and above. On the other hand, the cutoff for B-schools belonging to tier two to four range from 80 to 60 percentile.
