B School Profile: Department of Management Studies BITS Pilani

The Management group at BITS, Pilani was established in the year 1971. It initially offered the two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. Later in 1973 when the institute created an integrated educational structure, MBA evolved into the integrated first degree programme MMS- Master of Management Studies which is a blend of engineering and management. This programme was successfully offered for a time period of three decades. Based on the industrial demands, the course was restructured as MBA in the year 2006.

Practice School (PS) is the unique feature of BITS MBA that differentiates it from other top ranked B-schools. The Practice School programme is a part of the curriculum that commences after three semester of learning. It is a 24-week structured and evaluated internship. Students work on real time projects in domains of their interest. Students enhance their business acumen by focusing on analytical skills, decision making ability and teamwork. Students get an insight of the industry that grooms them for corporate culture. Handsome stipends along with other perks are additional benefits. Many students are offered Pre Placement offers(PPOs) on successful completion of the PS.

Admission Eligibility

  • Any Integrated first degree of BITS or B.E./B.Tech in Engineering disciplines or Masters in any discipline from other recognized universities with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
  • Must have a valid CAT/GMAT score card

Campus Life

BITS Pilani has a beautiful campus 200kms from Delhi. The ambience is conducive for learning. Campus life is vibrant and engaging. A number of clubs are active on the campuses and the Management Association is responsible for the management of student activities. The campus also hosts various student events and festivals. Every aspect of the student life at BITS is managed by the students themselves.

The hostel rooms are fully furnished. Common room facilities with Cable TV and telephone are available in each hostel. Internet connectivity has been provided in all hostel rooms. Solar water heating systems are provided in all the hostels. The Students’ Union operates various clubs, including Music, Dance, Hindi Drama, English Drama, Hindi Press, English Press, Creative Activities, Mime, Photography, and Poetry Clubs, English Language Activities Society, and Hindi Activities Society. There are also several departments, which help organize various student events. Traditionally students organize OASIS, a cultural festival sometime during the days adjoining Dussehra or Diwali. The students also organize A Professions-Oriented Gathering over Educational Experience (APOGEE), an Academic Week during the Second Semester, which may be aptly described as the academic get-together of the University Youth. INTERFACE is the all INDIA Management convention with a glorifying history of over three decades, is organized by the students of Department of Management.

Department of Management Studies BITS Pilani Placements

Department of Management DoM, BITS Pilani is positioning itself among the country’s premier management institutes. Over the past few years the interface with the business world has been accelerated. The belief, the corporate world places on the quality of management education that DoM, BITS Pilani imparts, is amply reflected in the placement offers the students have been getting year on year. Students at DoM, BITS Pilani appear for final placements during their third semester (Middle of October to December). This is the time wherein, most of the students generally get placed. Thereafter, in fourth semester, students are required to take 6 months of structured and evaluative internship, Practice School (PS). Herein, graduates work on real time projects in the domains of their interest.

The students who get placed by December last year essentially do their Practice School in the companies they are selected in. However, Practice School Division (PSD) of the institute allots PS stations to rest of the students who often get Placement Offers (POs) on the completion of Practice School (PS).  Some of our major recruiters have been- Aditya Birla Group, Credit Suisse, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan Chase, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, CRISIL, DCB, Cognizant business consulting, Future First Group, Hilti, Tolexo – India Mart, Oracle financial services.
