CAT 2019 is likely to be held on November 24, 2019. The official notification for the same will be released tentatively in the last week of July 2019 in the official website of CAT. Immediately after the release of CAT 2019 notification by the IIMs, CAT 2019 registration and application process will begin in about a week’s time preferably in the first week of August 2019. The exam is conducted once a year by one of the IIMs on rotation basis for admission to MBA/PGDM courses. This year, IIM Kozhikode is likely to conduct CAT 2019. CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria
If you have completed Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks or completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA), or are in the final year of Bachelor’s degree you can appear in CAT 2019 exam. There is no Age bar to apply and appear for CAT 2019 exam. General and OBC category candidates must secure at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. For reserved category candidates, the minimum percentage must be at least 45 percent.
However, please note that CAT 2019 eligibility criteria should not be treated as IIM admission criteria or for that matter any top B-School’s admission criteria. Each and every IIM, as well as other top B-Schools, have their own admission criteria. CAT 2019 eligibility criteria just makes you eligible to take the CAT 2019 exam and which is mandatory for admission at IIMs and other reputed B-Schools of the country.

Important points about CAT 2019 Exam
- CAT 2019 exam is a computer-based exam of 180 minutes duration with 100 questions divided into 3 sections of VARC, DILR, Quant.
- Number of questions will remain like last year: 34, 32 and 34 in the above order.
- Each section has 60 minutes sectional time limit.
- Around 70% of questions in CAT 2019 will carry a penalty of 1/3 negative marking.
- Answers of about 30% questions (TITA) will be free from any negative marking penalty.
- A high score in each of the 3 sections in CAT exam may lead to admission shortlist in the 20 IIMs.
CAT 2019 Exam: Registration Process
The CAT 2019 application form will be released by the conducting IIM and the registration window will remain open for around 50 days from the date of release. The mode of CAT 2019 registration process will be completely online and applicants will have to visit the official website to fill the application form. For filling the CAT 2019 application form, applicants, first need to register themselves and create their unique User ID and Password. Post registration, they need to log in again and fill up the application form by entering the required information accurately and the last step is to pay the application fee through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.
If any candidate makes mistake while filling the CAT 2019 application form, they can rectify it within the limited time when the forms are open for correction process. The conducting authority allows the candidates to make corrections in selected entries only. The correction window will open once the application process is over.
