Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT 2018) is an autonomous entrance exam conducted by the Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi annually for admission in MBA (Masters in Business Administration) programme in International Business (MBA-IB).

MBA-IB is a two-years Residential programme and a flagship course. IIFT also offers an Executive MBA program in New Delhi, Dubai and, Dar-es-Salaam.

About IIFT 2018 Exam

IIFT 2018 was held today, on December 2, 2018. The exam was not conducted digitally on computers. It was conducted via paper-pencil or offline mode. It was held in 18 centers across India (Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur and Visakhapatnam.)

For over 60,000 candidates taking the exam every year, IIFT offers only 600 seats for its management programme, in three of its campuses, Kolkata, Delhi and Kakinada.

IIFT 2018 Admissions Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must hold a recognized Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (for candidates belonging of SC/ST/PWD category, the required marks percentage is 45%).
  1. The candidate should appear in IIFT 2018 entrance exam and must get the minimum required sectional and overall marks to be eligible for the following rounds.
  1. If a candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP Admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the Bachelors degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIFT by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate.
  1. A candidate appearing for the Final year Bachelors degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
  1. It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIFT and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheets and degree certificate of the final year Bachelors degree examination before October 7, 2019.
  1. Admission of the candidate who joins the program on a provisional basis but fails to obtain the minimum percentage required in the Bachelor’s degree examination will not be allowed.
  1. There is no prescribed age limit to apply for MBA (IB) at IIFT.
  1. CAT or GMAT (only for Indian students) scores or scores of any other MBA-entrance exams are not accepted. Only IIFT Exam’s score is considered.
  1. For foreign students, it is mandatory for them to be in possession of a valid passport/travel document of the country they belong to. A Copy of the latest GMAT score certificate must be provided. (GMAT taken before 1st January 2018 would not be considered valid).

10. NRI students who are living, working, studying abroad should produce a certificate from the Indian Embassy /High Commission /Consulate of the country along with their applications. Two letters of recommendation are preferred, one of those should be written by a current supervisor or manager. Letter of recommendation written by immediate family members, will not be considered. And a copy of all pages of the Passport with all the official entries, must be provided. A Foreign student who has appeared for any other MBA entrance examination for that year in India such as CAT /XAT /IIFT etc. is not eligible to apply.

IIFT 2018 Exam Registrations

The IIFT Registration for the 2019 Batch had commenced from August 6, 2018 and closed on September 14, 2018. This year also the registration process for IIFT 2018 was conducted online. Admit Cards are also issued online. This year they were issued on November 26.

Candidates were given a one-time option to modify their data. Modification option was available only after completion of all four stages of the application form (Primary registration, Academic and Personal details, Payment and Photo and Sign upload.) It must be kept in mind that the Primary Residential Address, Mobile number, E-mail, Category and Center for Written Test and Group Discussion, cannot be altered by the candidate.

IIFT 2018 Exam Selection Process

Candidates, who would be able to crack the exam would only qualify and get shortlisted for the selection process. Short-listing is done on basis of the test scores.  Shortlisted candidates are then invited for the Group Discussion round which hosts an array of topics like Politics, E-commerce, Economics, and Current Affairs. The candidates are tested for their ability of presentation and communication skills. This is followed by the Writing-Ability Test (WAT) which is conducted to test the candidates’ writing skills and their grip over structure and composition for English .

If all these rounds are cleared, the candidates are taken in for the Personal Interview round. Their General  Awareness and presence of mind are tested in this round. Writing -Ability Test, Group Discussion and the Interview Round, will be held during January/February 2019 at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

IIFT Exam is considered to be one of the most competitive entrance exams. The Institute of Foreign Trade accepts the scores of no other exams of similar level. CAT or GMAT scores are not considered.

IIFT 2018 Exam Pattern

The exam has six major sections. Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, General Awareness (GA) and Data Interpretation (DI). It is a Multiple Choice, Objective type Test. The total Number of Questions for IIFT 2018 are 114 and the total marks are 100.

IIFT 2018 Exam Fees Structure

Over the years no drastic changes have been made to the fees structure and the same is expected this time. The exact amount of tuition fee and other charges may vary for MBA (IB) 2019-21 batch. All candidates will be notified of any and all changes (if any) when the admission offer letters are sent in April 2019. Fees include Tuition, Computer facility, Internet, Library, alumni and IMF (student body) fees. 50% concession on tuition fee is offered to students of SC, ST and PWD categories. Foreign Nationals and NRI Students has to pay the annual tuition fee along with other charges in a single instalment at the time of admission in the first year and by the start of the second year.

(Fees for the 2018-20 batch was, US$ 30,000 per year and Rs. 32,500 for the first year and Rs. 22,500 in the second year as other charges.)

Indian candidates are allowed to pay the annual tuition fee in three slots. No cancellation or refund inquiries will be attended. With registration is done, no refunds will be made. Only if of multiple transactions are made against the same candidate, it will be considered.
