Accenture Strategy offered the maximum number of offers (24), followed by Boston Consulting Group (20), Flipkart (14), Amazon (11), Paytm (10), and Microsoft, (8).

Clawing its way through the shadows of GST and Demonetisation, IIM Ahmedabad Placement Report 2019 for the two-year flagship Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) saw a resurgence in the Financial Consulting firms posing as top recruiters.

IIM Ahmedabad saw 385 students participating in the campus placements for the Batch of 2017-2019.

Senior IIM Ahmedabad officials state that post compiling of data from the three clusters of placements, Accenture Strategy has emerged to be the top recruiter with 24 offers. Notably, it is the top recruiter for the fifth consecutive year. “Accenture Strategy has remained our top recruiter for five years straight. The firm has only increased its tally from the previous high of 21 in 2015,” said the official.

Accenture Strategy was followed by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in making the second-highest, 20 offers, also its’ five years highest offer. Tech giants like Flipkart, Amazon and Microsoft were close on heels with 14, 11 and 8 offers respectively.

Notably, IIM Ahmedabad Placement Report 2019 does not disclose the salary package figures until it completes its audit in the months of August-September respectively. 

IIM Ahmedabad follows a Cluster-based approach for the final placements, where companies offering similar job profiles and positions are grouped into Cohorts, which are then invited to the campus in particular clusters.

Notably, there were 3 Clusters held for IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019 held on February 8, 11 and 14 respectively. The B-school has also stated that if need be, it will follow a Rolling Process post Cluster 3 as well.

Cluster 1 (February 8, 2o19)

  • Cluster 1 of IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019 comprised of 5 cohorts. Accenture Strategy and BCG were top recruiters with 24 and 20 offers respectively.
  • Finance domain had the maximum number of offers, (9), by Avendus, ET&S, followed by JP Morgan Chase, which gave out 8 offers.
  • Cluster 1 also saw other regular recruiters namely A.T. Kearney, Bain & Co., Goldman Sachs, HSBC, McKinsey & Company, Monitor Deloitte, and Oliver Wyman, among others.

Cluster 2 (February11, 2019)

  • Cluster 2 of IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019 comprised of 6 cohorts.
  • 30 companies participated in the PGP-FABM (Post-Graduate Programme in Food and Agribusiness Management) for the Batch of 2017-19, conducted on February 11, 2019.
  • Top recruiters included CK Birla Group with 10 offers (including pre-placement offers) besides several offline and online retail players and agri-focused companies.
  • Aditya Birla Group, Flipkart and Samsung were close on heels with 9 offers each.
  • Godrej Agrovet, PI Industries, Jain Irrigation, Pioneering Ventures, Ninjacart and Waycool extended 3 offers each.
  • First-time recruiters included Ernst and Young (EY), RBL Bank and Reliance Foundation.
  • Rabobank and INI Farms re-engaged for IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019, Cluster 2.
  • Domains for IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019, Cluster 2, included FMCG, Agri Inputs and Services, Food Processing and Supply Chain, Food and Agribusiness PE-VC, Food and Agri Consulting, Agri Commodity Trading, e-Commerce, and Retail.
  • Regular recruiters in IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019 included Asian Paints, HUL, General Mills, ITC, Mondeléz, Nestlé, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Emaar, KPMG, Cloudtail, ADM, Mahindra, Reliance, RPG, Amazon and Myntra among others.

Cluster 3 (February 14, 2019)

  • 90 students had made the Dream Applications in the IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019. With the dream applications facility, students are allowed to opt for the sector/job of their choice, despite having an offer in hand.
  • Notably, 385 students sat for the placements, whereas 2 opted for entrepreneurship.
  • Global Consulting firm Accenture Strategy was the biggest recruiting making 24 offers.
  • SAIF Partners, United Breweries, Etihad Airways and Russell Reynolds and OLAM are the new firms which participated in IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2019, Cluster 3.
  • The Consumer-tech recruiters included Microsoft, Ola, Uber and Paytm. Paytm offered the maximum offers (10), including Pre-placement offers (PPOs), followed by Microsoft, which extended 8 offers.
  • Among government firms, Indian Oil Corporation offered 1 candidate.
  • The third cluster comprised 12 cohorts like FSI, Consumer Tech, Core Manufacturing & Infrastructure, Education & Tech, Enterprise Tech, Food & Dairy, Govt. Enterprises, IT Consulting, Pharma & Healthcare, Renewable Energy & GreenTech, Social Enterprises & NGO, and Textiles.
