Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2019 exam will be conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur from 10 AM to 1 PM in a single session on January 6, 2019. XAT 2019 is the second computer-based test in the 60+ years’ history of XAT exam. There are 150 MBA colleges accepting XAT 2019 exam score for their MBA admission 2019-21. Eligibility Criteria for XAT 2019

XAT is the second largest MBA/PGDM entrance exam after CAT. XLRI has been conducting XAT on behalf of XAMI for more than the last 60 years at All India level in the paper pen mode to provide a level playing field for the XAT aspirants coming from all backgrounds.

XAT 2019 aspirants must have recognized bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline. Those completing their final graduation exam by June 10, 2019, may also apply. XAT 2019 is the mandatory exam for admission to member and associate B-schools for Indian candidates, the NRI, and foreign candidates may apply through their valid GMAT scores. Candidates in Dubai and Kathmandu have the option of appearing in XAT 2019 or applying through GMAT scores.


Changed XAT 2019 Exam Pattern

The following are the Key Changes in XAT 2019 Exam Pattern:

Negative Marking in XAT 2019

Maximum marks awarded for each correct answer is +1 and the negative marking for each wrong answer is 0.25 (1/4) and not 0.33 (1/3).

Fewer Questions in XAT 2019

The actual XAT 2019 exam is divided into two parts with 99 questions in total. The total number of questions in XAT 2019 have been reduced to 99 instead of 100 as appeared last year.

XAT 2019 test takers will have to complete the first 3 sections of the first part namely Verbal and Logical Ability; Decision Making; Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation while questions in General Knowledge section will have to be attempted in 15 minutes.

Penalty For Unattempted Questions has Increased

While the negative marking for every wrong answer is 0.25 Mark in XAT 2019, the Negative marking for every unattempted question beyond 8 questions has gone upto 0.10 mark per unattempted question in the exam. However, there is No Negative Marking for General Knowledge section in Part 2 of XAT 2019 exam.

NAT Questions Introduced 

A new type of Numerical Answer Type Question (NAT Questions) has been introduced for the first time in the XAT 2019 exam. Procedure for answering a numerical answer type (NAT) question is to enter the numerical answer by making use of the virtual numeric keypad that appears below the question.

Essay Writing Test Scrapped

One of the key changes in XAT 2019 exam is the removal of subjective Essay Writing Test due to which the overall time duration of XAT 2019 has been reduced to three hours from the earlier three and half hours. This is the first time in the history of XAT exam, that there would be no Essay Writing Test in XAT exam and the candidates can focus primarily on cracking the core three sections of XAT exam.

  • XAT 2019 Exam is of 3 hours (180 minutes) duration.
  • Visually impaired candidates with a scribe to get an additional 25 minutes only for Part 1 of the exam.
  • Exam Timings: 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM on January 6, 2019.
  • The Total Number of Questions in the Exam is 99 (74 + 25).
  • Marks for every correct answer: +1.
  • Negative marking for every wrong answer: -0.25.
  • For every unattempted question beyond 8 unattempted questions negative marking: 0.10.
  • Negative marking does not apply for the General Knowledge section.
  • All the MCQ type questions include five options with one right option.
  • NAT questions introduced in XAT 2019.
  • No Essay Writing Test in XAT 2019 Exam.
