Overview


Launched by IIM Indore in the year 2011, the five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is the first of its kind in India. It is meant for the young students with managerial and leadership aspirations and carries the IIM brand ensuring good career growth. After 3 years of the study schedule, the IPM students become the part of IIM Indore MBA/PGDM batch leading to high placements. 

IIM Indore will be conducting IPMAT 2020 on May 16, 2020 for admission to its 5 year integrated programme. The candidates for IPM will be selected on the basis of overall performance in IPMAT, Written Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI).

Eligibility Criteria


General and NC-OBC Category

  • The candidate should have scored a minimum of 60% in class 10th/SSC and class 12th/ HSC or equivalent examination in case of General and NC-OBC category candidates.
  • The candidate should be of maximum 20 years of age as on July 31, 2020.

SC, ST and PwD Category

  • The candidate should have scored a minimum of 55% in class 10th/SSC and class 12th/ HSC or equivalent examination in case of SC, ST category candidates.
  • The candidate should be of maximum 22 years of age as on July 31, 2020.

Important points on Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who are likely to complete standard XII/ HSC or equivalent by the end of June 30, 2020, can also apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria
  • If selected, such candidates will be offered admission to the programme provisionally.
  • At the time of registration for the programme, such candidate must have to produce X and XII standard mark sheet (securing minimum marks i.e. 60% for General and NC-OBC or 55% for SC, ST, and PwD) along with school-leaving certificate/migration certificate, failing which the candidate’s provisional admission offer will stand cancelled.
  • The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in X and XII Standard would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet, irrespective of the Board’s regulation.
  • In case the candidates are awarded grades or grade points instead of marks, the conversion of grades to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the Board/ Competent Authority explaining the method of conversion from where they have obtained the certificate.
  • Applicants pursuing their X and/or XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign board’s like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can also apply.

IPM 2019 Exam Analysis

IPM 2019 had more or less same difficulty level as that of last year. It is expected that the overall cutoff for shortlisting may remain same as that of last year with a slight deviation. 

IPM 2019 Analysis: Quantitative Ability (SA) 

  • The section had 20 short answer questions.
  • This section had no negative marking.
  • Quant (SA) section in IPMAT 2019 was more difficult and was time consuming.
  • Level of difficulty was similar as that of last year.
  • Many questions in the test paper were based on Logs, Arithmetic Progressions, Geometry, P&C, Probability, and was a mix of concepts.

IPM 2019 Analysis: Quantitative Aptitude (MCQs) 

  • This section had 40 MCQs.
  • Level of difficulty was similar to last year.
  • No questions on complex numbers.
  • Data Interpretation question set was present.
  • Questions were not very lengthy and were doable.
  • The difficulty level was slightly higher.

IPM 2019 Analysis: Verbal Ability 

  • This section had 40 MCQs.
  • Difficulty Level was Moderate.
  • 2 RC Passages: One on Birds and other on Social Media figured in VA section.
  • There were questions on Fill in the Blanks which were easy.
  • Other questions included English grammar, sentence correction, parts of speech among others.
  • Questions on Jumbled paragraphs were not followed by options and required the candidates to enter the correct order of sentences.

Exam Pattern


IPMAT will be conducted in online mode across 28 cities in India. IPMAT is an objective-type test comprising MCQs and Short Answer questions. There are two sections namely Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. There are 100 questions in total with a time duration of  2 hours and each correct answer carries 4 marks. There is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer for MCQs. There is No Negative marking for Short Answer (SA) questions. Candidates must answer the sections in a pre-specified order and this order is same for all the candidates. Quantitative Ability section has a time limit of 80 minutes. Verbal Ability section has a time limit of 40 minutes.

Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) regulates the syllabus of IIM Indore’s IPMAT.
