Exam Analysis

TISSNET 2019 Analysis

TISSNET 2019 consisted of three sections General Awareness (40 Questions), English Proficiency & Language skills (30 Questions), and Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities (30 Questions). TISSNET 2019 did not break its trend and GK continued to be the most difficult section of the paper. About 22-24 questions were from static GK and the remaining questions were from Economy and Current Affairs. English Proficiency & Language skills and Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities section were seemingly simple and the scoring sections of the paper. Overall, the paper was on similar lines as last year.

English Proficiency & Language Skills

This section was much easier than last year. It had 30 questions. Fill in the blank questions dominated the section. There were no questions on idioms, one-word substitutions and analogy this year. The grammar questions were straightforward. There was just one odd one out question. There were a few questions on synonyms and antonyms. There were two passages with five questions each. It was a mixture of factual questions and inference questions. The options were easy to eliminate. A topic-wise division of the section is as follows:

Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Ability

The section had a total of 30 questions with 17 from Quant, 7 from Data Interpretation, and 6 from Reasoning. Majority of the questions were either easy or easy to moderate. DI sets were time-consuming for some students. In this section, Arithmetic questions dominated like last year. The questions were easy in nature. Anyone with a strong fundamental knowledge could attempt all questions in this section. The DI section was dominated by charts. The sets required calculation and approximation would not have helped.

General Awareness

It continued to be the toughest of the three as GK is never a favorite of students and many options needed students to read and know topics and facts in detail. However, most of the questions came from current affairs, polity, history and current social issues.
